Shattered Space won't be the only expansion for Starfield, with a second DLC already planned. This was just confirmed by Bethesda's Todd Howard, who even suggests that this could become an annual occurrence as long as the devs have ideas for more content.

Howard confirmed this in an interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, shedding some more light on Bethesda's ongoing projects. Here, he touches on Starfield's post-launch development and makes it clear that the studio won't be ditching its new IP anytime soon.

Todd Howard Confirms At Least One More Starfield Expansion



Howard admitted that more DLC is in the works when asked whether Bethesda will release a new expansion every year.

"I would say we want to, more or less, yeah," says Howard. "How long that can continue? Hopefully a very long time. We're planning for the one after this so there will be another one."

He continues, explaining the mindset that goes into planning a Starfield expansion. "I don't know that our goal is to answer every question. We sort of look at it and say, 'Hey, what's a good angle? What do we want to add to the game as far as an experience or a tone?'"

He also explained that Shattered Space has been in proper development since September last year, when Starfield launched. Since Shattered Space is launching at some point this year, this does seemingly make the idea of annual expansions more realistic, as long as the devs have new ideas to explore.

Of course, many Bethesda fans will be hoping that the studio also has enough time to work on its other IPs: The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. While these are always in active development through their MMOs, it's been some time since we had single-player instalments. Howard didn't touch on these much but did say that the team won't "rush" another Fallout game just to bank on the show's success. In other words, the new games will be ready whenever they are ready.

In the meantime, we can expect more updates for Starfield. However, the latest one was incredibly controversial, as Starfield got its own version of the Creation Club. Steam reviews have fallen to mostly negative as a result, so Bethesda will be hoping that future updates early it some good will.
