Lulzsec Sony and Nintendo hacker pleads guilty in court
Ryan Ackroyd, 26, entered his guilty plea at a hearing in London today. He will be sentenced on May 14 along with the three other hackers, Bloomberg reports.
Last year, Lulzsec members Ryan Cleary and Jake Davis both pleaded guilty to multiple counts of conspiracy related to website attacks on Sony, Nintendo the NHS and a raft of other institutions.
The group used distributed denial of service attacks on a number of video game companies between February and September 2011.
They modified some computers, including adjusting security settings and access to confidential data, and redirected visitors to Lulzsec websites.
Teenager Mustafa Al-Bassam also previously pleaded to disrupting websites at the Central Intelligence Agency and the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency.

What did they accomplish with this? I can understand doing it for monetary gain. They must be in trouble because he disturbed UK's SERIOUS Organised Crime Agency.

Well it's good that they told the truth. Do we know if the company's dropped any charges because of there actions?

I agree they will sentence them something silly in an attempt to scare
others who might follow in there footsteps doesnt make sense.
Its needs people to stop rolling over and letting their countries do this to their people, its insane how an internet hackers are starting to get jail time, soon it will be more than rapists, i saw a guy who killed his 6 kids get less time than a hacker before... i mean wtf, something not right, if people stand up in protest, then then people control the governments, because they know they have to do what its people wants or they dont get voted in simple as that. Its getting to the point where its just ******** trying to make an example of people, yet if an employer did that it would be a problem. bunch of **** hypocrits in power, they need to back off, the internet is our last place of freedom and they are like everything else taking that away from us.
I don't think they shold get as much jail time as people that do far worse things
Sure.. but how long will it be before hackers release missile launch codes? Then millions could die.. bit far fetched but possible.
many hackers, like anonymous, are actually good, have good motives.
Yeah but just because they have good motives doesn't mean they are doing things in the best interests of everybody involved, also the majority of hacking groups aren't going to be on your side
honestly, who cares what their sentence is. They shouldn't have done an illegal act. They deserve what they get.
There's abit more to it than that.
The fact that giving them a long sentence that's close or equal to that of a more serious crime not only gives out the wrong message but also wastes more tax payers money by keeping them in prison.
At the end of the day, they're just internet hackers, turn off your computer and they're not affecting your REAL life.
i understand where you are coming from, but the length of their sentence is there for a reason. Maybe we don't understand that reason, but it isn't there just to piss people off in cases similar to this one. Maybe they are too soft of people who do things that are worse, but you must understand the seriousness of hacking. Hacking isn't something that is used for just manipulating sites to your liking. People hack to steal many things including identity and money. Millions of dollars can be lost in a single case of hacking. Hacking should not be taken lightly. So in a sense, someone who hacks could possibly deserve the same as someone who stole money from somewhere without causing harm.

Agreed they really deserved it
What pisses me off more is that tax payers money is being thrown into this, and theres no justification, speeding kills, drunk driving kills, drugs lead to robberies and shoplifting to pay for it, but the fact that tax payers money is being spent on people just prooving a point, is just insane. No one owns the internet, who is to say whats legal and what isnt? Virtual and real worlds should be kept apart.
Oh and heres something to ponder, if a damn is leaking water, and could burst. What do you do, get a bucket and clean up the spilt water, or plug the hole its coming from, if your security isnt good enough to stop hackers, then work to make it so it is good enough. If small fries can do this to you, what the hell is going to happen in a melicious attack? Stop going after these people and work on your security, lets take it as survival of the fittest, how nature intended, atm the hackers are better, and you cant arrest every hacker in the world, so stop wasting money and resources and try to stop them being able to hack you in the first place, protect your customers, whats happened has happened, learn from it and stop wasting tax payers money, spend it on repairing the roads in dier need of repair after the ice has tore them apart. Why cant my council affort to repair the potholes damageing cars around where i live yet they can afford to do this? Because this guy is actually in the neighbouring town to mine under the same council. Its just wasting time and resources, which could be put to much better use
Great point, but do you realize how many ways hackers get around security. It is nearly impossible to make security strong enough to withstand from being hacked. People manipulate computers too much to be stopped.

Euler You would have thought a group of people with the ability to hack these big companies would be a bit better at covering their tracks and not getting caught?
I've often wondered how they actually get caught if they are that good.

IWasLikeOMG Deserve it. They thought they were big when they were doing it.
I know did they not expect to be jailed?
