Apex Legends Players Are Concerned About Upcoming Bloodhound Nerfs

0
Apex Legends' Bloodhound is getting nerfed with the release of the new collection event and longtime players are getting very concerned and vocal about this specific change to one of the very first legends in the game. Bloodhound has been in the game ever since Electronic Arts (EA) launched Apex Legends back in early 2019. From the very start, the recon character has been part of the game's meta, but players are speculating that the recent changes might change that fact.

Apex Legends is quite famous for making big changes to characters and weapons without any mercy or concern about the game's meta. As a reminder of that, Bloodhound has got several changes in Apex Legends, which has included both nerfs and buffs over time. However, none of the previous changes were as big as the change that the Double Take collection event is bringing to the table. Players will get their hands on the new Bloodhound with the release of the event on June 25, 2024.

According to patch notes released by EA, Bloodhound's Ultimate ability will get a huge nerf with the launch of the Double Take collection event. With this nerf, the legend will no longer have threat vision through smoke or gas, which is partly why Bloodhound has been one of the best in Apex Legends. This means enemies will no longer be highlighted in red through Bangalore's smoke or Caustic's gas. Many Apex fans and pros have started expressing their concerns about how this change will break the existing meta and might render Bloodhound useless in certain situations.

Apex Legends' Bloodhound Nerfs Will Possibly Change Existing Meta and Team Compositions
Other than the nerfing Bloodhound's Ult, EA is also changing one of the best sets of level upgrades in Apex Legends, which concerns the recon legend. The level 2 upgrade, Raven's Blessing, which improved the Ult's charge rate, will be reduced from 25% to 20%, making the Ult recharge slower than before. The previous level 3 upgrades that enhanced Bloodhound's Ult and HP with knocks will be replaced by two new upgrades, Sighthound and Flock. Slighthound will reduce Bloodhounds Tactical cooldown by 50% if the Ult is active and Flock will remove the White Ravens' range requirements.

The upcoming nerfs are not just bad news for Bloodhound mains, it's bad news for teammates as well. These changes will definitely change Apex Legends' best meta compositions involving Bloodhound, which seems to be EA's goal here.

Sometimes even the best teams break up and go their separate ways. Bloodhound's Ult has always had a strong synergy with Bangalore’s smoke, but the pairing has recently become dominant and a singular answer to the "can't see stuff" meta. With the removal of threat vision through smoke, Bloodhound will need to rely on their Tac scan like other Recon Legends. This should remove the necessity for the dynamic duo to pair together and allow for new roster compositions to form in its wake.

Previous Bloodhound changes in Apex mostly focused on enhancing their ability as a recon character. The latest nerf seems to be doing the opposite and making Bloodhound less effective as a recon character. Apex Legends fans worrying that the nerfs will make the best recon legend fall out of the meta will likely be hoping that EA listens to feedback and brings back the most effective perk of Bloodhound's Ult.
