Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot To Get Daima DLC, Datamine Suggests

3.7
Recently, Bandai Namco announced that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot had surpassed eight million copies sold. In the announcement, the publisher noted that they hope fans will look forward to what's coming next. In other words, another round of DLC. But if you were hoping the next batch of DLC would cover GT, Broly or perhaps even Dragon Ball Super, it appears you'll be out of luck. That's because the next batch of DLC, or at least part of it, will feature Dragon Ball Daima -- the franchise's upcoming anime series.

Taking to Twitter, a fan shared their findings via a datamine of Kakarot's files. In it, references to DLC 7 can be found, which would line up with Kakarot's next wave of story-based content. Those files also make mention of Daima, and an additional file has been translated to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Additional Episode: Daima Part 1, with the Daima beng that of the upcoming anime.

Kakarot Wouldn't Be The Only Game Getting Daima DLC
As for what Daima is, well, it's an upcoming anime that's set to premiere sometime this fall. It's been created in honor of Dragon Ball's 40th anniversary, and it will see chibi versions of Goku, Vegeta and co head off to a new world. The late Akira Toriyama was manning the project prior to his death, having created the story, setting and character designs. Not much else is known about the project, though a teaser trailer did showcase some of the world.

That said, it appears that Daima will be making a big push when it does premiere. That's because just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that at least one part of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero's season pass will be centered around Daima. The other part will focus on Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, while a third portion of DLC has not yet been revealed.

It makes sense that Daima would have some focus given that it is presumably Toriyama's final contribution to the franchise. More so, it'll represent the first anime series since Super, making it a rather big deal. At the same time, however, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has firmly established itself as being a Z-specific storyline, and as far as we know, Daima is a whole new series.

To this point, Kakarot's base game adapted the entire Z storyline. Its first DLCs adapted the Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' movies, which, while included in Super, are canonically DBZ storylines. After that, there was DLC dedicated to the History of Trunks TV special, the End of Z storyline, Bardock and the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.

The 23rd Tournament, while adapted in Dragon Ball, is a direct lead-in to Dragon Ball Z, while Bardock's storyline directly influences nearly every event in the series. In other words, the game has served as a complete tale of Goku in Dragon Ball Z, so anything else would feel out of place. That said, Kakarot has yet to disappoint, so perhaps it's best to wait and see.
