Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 4 Reloaded launched on June 26 with new weapons and maps, additional limited-time game modes, various bug fixes, and balance adjustments. Players didn't need to wait long for the subsequent balance update for Warzone, which launched one week later, on July 2. However, many players were frustrated after the update's release, since service disruptions affected profile recoveries in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone soon afterward. Although player data wasn't lost and the issue was fixed, the community continued to place emphasis on some of the persistent issues they reported in both of the latest Call of Duty titles.
The official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account acknowledged that lag issues are impacting Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, as many players have reported lag and packet burst issues in both titles. These issues can prevent players from landing shots on their opponents and, in worse cases, render the game unplayable for seconds at a time or lead to a disconnection. Activision confirms that "some mitigations" were already deployed in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, but the developers are committed to releasing further improvements and fixes. More updates on the matter were promised, but many Call of Duty fans are frustrated with the lag problems, which some trace back to the launch of the Season 4 Reloaded update.

Our teams have been investigating increased reports of lag and/or packet burst issues (as indicated on the in-game widget). While some mitigations have already been deployed, we remain committed to continued improvement. Stay tuned for further updates.
Some players note that these lag issues have affected both games in recent months and are calling for better servers. Others are also calling on Activision to address increased reports of hackers in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, so it's clear that the Call of Duty community wants various issues to be remedied sooner rather than later. In recent years, hackers gained an unfair advantage in Warzone by implementing workarounds for some of the game's biggest nerfs.
Fans may want to follow the Call of Duty Updates Twitter account and other relevant social media channels, since Activision will release an official notice once the lag issues are fixed. Activision will likely reveal new information about Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 5 in the coming weeks as Season 4 winds down. Support for Modern Warfare 3 is expected to continue until the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in October.
