Armored Core 6 To Potentially Get DLC, Job Listing Suggests

4
If a FromSoftware game doesn't have DLC, then is it truly a FromSoftware game? While we don't have an exact answer to that one, we do know that FromSoftware is seemingly gearing up for more Armored Core content. That content could take the shape of DLC for Armored Core 6, which was released nearly one year ago, or it could mean that an Armored Core 7 is in the works. Either way, it looks like it'll be time to get back into the robot.

As first spotted online on the tech4gamers forum, FromSoftware is currently hiring a Character Modeler. The position, which is currently open, calls for the applicant to be able to assist with "modeling and texturing characters or robots." Additionally, the job responsibilities include rigging and animation work, as well as the ability to create game events.

Normally, a job listing is a pretty innocuous thing, as studios are constantly looking for new talent. That said, FromSoftware only has one game in its portfolio that deals with robots -- Armored Core -- and that franchise was revived after more than a decade hiatus.

FromSoftware Games Typically Receive DLC Expansions
With the exception of Sekiro, nearly every recent FromSoftware release has received some sort of DLC expansion. Whether it's the Old Hunters expansion of Bloodborne, or the recently released Shadow of the Erdtree expansion of Elden Ring, FromSoftware has developed a reputation for expanding its games with detailed and punishing DLC offerings. In other words, DLC for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

What's more is that an insider found several lines in Armored Core 6's text that referenced DLC. Those lines explicitly mention the word "DLC" on multiple occasions, signaling that the potential for DLC isn't some kind of stretch, but rather embedded in the game itself.

While a DLC expansion of some sort would be a welcome and appropriate surprise, it's important to note that the job listing could be for a potential Armored Core 7. Given that Armored Core 6 is effectively a reboot of the series, a sequel title wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Only time will tell what route FromSoftware decides to take. What is clear, though, is that Armored Core isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and that's good enough news on its own.
