Being a series reboot, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon brought a classic FromSoftware IP back into discussion when it rolled out on August 25, 2023 across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Xbox One. The vehicular combat game revolves around piloting powerful mechs and completing mercenary assignments in the fight for a highly valuable resource. Notably, the game was lauded by critics, a welcome change compared to certain previous Armored Core titles. On the back of its critical success, Armored Core 6 has now achieved an important commercial milestone a month before its first anniversary.
In a recent tweet, FromSoftware announced that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon crossed the 3 million sales mark within a year of its release. The Japan-based developer thanked fans for the success of the sci-fi game, which is currently available in both physical and digital versions. In the comments, several fans flocked to congratulate the Dark Souls studio. One of them called Armored Core 6 "one of the best mecha games ever," and expressed his interest in seeing a co-op take on the game. Another comment wished to see a DLC for FromSoftware's mecha game.

Armored Core 6's impressive sales figures highlight the game's popularity among players. It is one of the biggest launches on Steam for FromSoftware, alongside titles such as 2022's Game of the Year Elden Ring. Besides the quality of the game itself, a thriving modding community has also enhanced Armored Core 6's appeal for players on PC. Among some popular Armored Core 6 mods are the first-person camera mod and the Carl Johnson mod, which present the players with a distinct experience in the game.
Following the success of Armored Core 6, FromSoftware President and veteran game director Hidetaka Miyazaki assured Armored Core fans of the franchise's future. Back in May, he stated that the IP is an important part of the studio's portfolio and suggested that a sequel may be coming down the line. The solid performance of the latest Armored Core game sets the stage up for a promising turn of events for the mecha-based action series. Although there is little information about where the series may be headed next, based on FromSoftware's purple patch, fans can rest assured that it will be worth watching out for.
