Halo Infinite Reveals Forge Update Plans

4.7
Halo Infinite is making major changes to its Forge mode as part of the game's upcoming July update. Along with the addition of several popular features from past Halo games, Halo Infinite's Operation: Fleetcom will introduce several quality-of-life improvements for Forge users and several updates that aim to make using the tool easier and more efficient.

While the Halo franchise has been taken into exciting and new territory over the last two decades, focusing and improving upon the game's sandbox has remained a cornerstone of each new entry, with Halo Infinite adding to the series' list of weapons, tools, and features significantly. Along with tools like the fan-favorite Grappleshot and new weapons like the Cindershot, Halo Infinite also shook things up with its story mode, planting Master Chief in a brand-new open world. Alongside this massive open world came exciting new storyline development and the introduction of several new characters. However, multiplayer and custom modes continue to be a big piece of Halo Infinite's puzzle, with the game's Forge mode set to receive some of the biggest changes and upgrades it has seen since its initial release.

A big focus of Halo Infinite's upcoming Operation: Fleetcom is Forge, with several changes being announced by developer 343 Industries ahead of the update's release. Perhaps one of the coolest and most unexpected changes is the addition of over 1,000 different voice lines from legendary Halo announcer Jeff Steitzer. Soon, creators will be able to use lines spoken by Steitzer himself, making custom maps and modes feel more authentic. The Halo Infinite soundtrack will also be made available for use in Forge, complete with distance-specific nodes that will help make maps feel more fleshed out and cinematic. The following tracks will be included in this new update.

Banished
The Endless
Forerunner
Monitor
Covenant
UNSC
Heroic
Special
8-Bit

Also included in the new update to Halo Infinite's Forge mode are items called nav markers that are intended to help players with "readability" during different game modes. "How do you know the enemy has your flag? Nav markers," answers 343. "How will you be able to tell that a nearby enemy has dropped skulls in the Headhunter mode? You guessed it: nav markers!" For example, if creators want to let players know a nearby player dropped skulls in a Headhunter match, they can use custom nav markers to make for quick communication between the game and players without crowding the in-game HUD.

Players will also be able to create new UI messages, with over 600 new words and phrases being added. New name locations and armor effects will be part of Operation: Fleetcom, with the update also marking the return of two fan-favorite game modes: Headhunter and VIP. VIP has not been seen since Halo 3, with new nodes being added to Forge to allow creators to make custom matches based on this game mode. Operation: Fleetcom releases for Halo Infinite on July 30, 2024.
