Diablo 4 Adding Classic Diablo 2 Enemies in Season 5

0
Diablo 4 has shown new footage of the Fell Council, one of the game's new bosses, which was seen for the first time in Diablo 2. The council will join the game with the start of Diablo 4's fifth season, addressing players' requests to see more Diablo 2 flavor in the latest entry of the series.

This isn't the only return of characters seen in previous Diablo games, as Diablo 4 players know some names like Ashava the Pestilent, a giant demon with massive blades on its arms, who was previously seen in Diablo Immortal. Another character familiar to fans is Lyndon the Scoundrel, a Diablo 4 NPC who appeared in Diablo 3 and the Reaper of Souls expansion. It's impossible not to mention Butcher, a demon who gave Diablo 4 players nightmares, who was seen before in Diablo, Diablo 3, and Diablo Immortal. For Diablo 4 Season 5, Blizzard is bringing back faces familiar to seasoned Diablo players.

During the Campfire Chat broadcast on August 1, Diablo 4 revealed footage of the Fell Council. Formed by Geleb the Flame, Bremm the Maelstrom, Wyand the Shadow, Maffer the Cruel, and Ismael the Accursed, the characters will be the bosses of Diablo 4's new mode, Infernal Hordes. When players beat the enemy waves, three random members of the Fell Council will appear for battle. According to Diablo 4, there will be 10 possible variations of this encounter, which the devs believe will "create many different flavors of the boss fight."

For veteran players, the presence of the Fell Council is nothing new, as Diablo 4's new enemies were one of the threats seen in Diablo 2. In the second game in the franchise, the council members were once generous men who led Zakarum. Their fight to contain Mephisto was unsuccessful, and they were all corrupted and transformed into agents of evil with powerful abilities. Eventually, Diablo 2 players had to send the group straight to hell.

When Diablo 4's fifth season begins, players who defeat the Fell Council will receive Burning Aether. With this currency, players will be able to buy Spoils of Hell, chests into which Diablo 4 will place Legendary and Unique items, Summoning Materials, and Gold. But this won't be the only new feature of the fifth season, which will bring content such as more questlines, a new battle pass, and the anticipated rework of Diablo 4's Uniques.
