Next Call of Duty reveal by E3, Activision community manager suggests

Activision social media manager Dan Amrich has said he expects 2013's entry in the Call of Duty series, which may be Modern Warfare 4, to be revealed no later than E3 in early June.

Speaking to fans in a YouTube video, he said: "We're still deep in the middle of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 cycle and there's still a lot more content to come, so you can understand why Activision hasn't really talked about next year yet, but they're going to have to soon, because E3 is coming up."
Amrich noted that the last two Call of Duty games were revealed in May 2011 and May 2012.

"If you're looking for information on the future, it's coming soon, it's just not here yet, it should be here no later than E3," he said.

"We also have the interesting problem of new hardware coming in. We've got a PS4, we've got whatever Xbox is working on - is that going to be this year, I don't know."

Last year, a CV belonging to an Infinity Ward software engineer suggested that the studio's next Call of Duty game will release on both current and next-gen consoles.

It has been heavily rumoured that Microsoft will reveal the next-gen Xbox at an as-yet-unannounced event on May 21, and given the platform holder's strong business ties to Activision's series, it wouldn't be surprising to hear some information about the next Call of Duty game around the same time.

I do think it will be Call of Duty: Ghosts but MW4 would still be okay. I like that they are putting all focus onto BO2, which I think is needed. We dont need to know about the next COD in April

Lavish If it is Modern Warfare 4, they better switch up everything. The last MW3 got so much hate from being so similar to MW2, I doubt they would want to go through that again.


That being said, Modern Warfare is a series and you can't just change up a series. I think MW3 should be the end of the Modern Warfare series because of all the negative feedback, I've heard some rumors about it being called; Call of Duty: Ghost.

Not sure if that is a true rumor but we will all just have to wait and see.

I wonder when they will stop making them. Cod is fun, but they are kinda getting old. They need to do what Bungie did and move on.

Does anyone actually think the game will be called Modern Warfare 4? I mean, if I remember correctly, the main villain in the Modern Warfare series is dead now. Why would they continue on rather than make a brand new thing for brand new ideas and innovations.

Why there is still a few months atleast that you can carry on playing bo2 there is no need to release a new game every year

Agreed; it will be interesting to see how video games will transition over to the new next-gen consoles. Maybe they will make a version for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and later when the next-gens are released they will eventually come out with a next-gen version of the game, assuming the consoles don't support backward compatibility.
