Fallout 76 Players Say PS5 Port Is Broken, Constantly Crashing

3.8
Fallout 76 players on PS5 say the game has been unplayable in recent weeks, due to constant crashing. Some have made the issues known to Bethesda's support channels, but say that crashes are still plaguing the platform, leading them to put the game down until a fix has been rolled out.

The problem has been reported across social media, with those in the Fallout 76 subreddit in particular venting their frustrations. For about two months now, those who play on PS5 say they're being met with multiple black screens in a single play session, which forces them to reset every time.

In a recent thread on Reddit, PS5 players report the issues they've experienced with the game since.

"Between 11:45 and 12:50 today, I have had 5 freeze ups or straight up crashes," says Reddit user Rich-Emu4273.

"I think my highest crash total playing right after the Skyline update was 9 in one day," adds mypatronusislasagna.

This seems to be a widespread issue on the platform, with some adding that they've abandoned the game.

"I stopped playing all together," says Nicetomeetyou28. "I was playing at least 20+ hours a week. After the constant crashing, I had a daily ops not count cause it crashed before I claimed my prize, just glitchy as hell and the hud issue. I turned it off."

This issue was noted weeks ago when the Skyline Valley update went live. This dropped on June 12, and yet the issue of crashing on PS5 still doesn't seem to have been addressed. It remains to be seen when a fix rolls out for those on PlayStation, but right now, the fanbase is far from optimistic that this will come anytime soon.

However, just because fans are having to wait weeks between fixes, doesn't mean Bethesda is pulling support anytime soon. Todd Howard recently commented that the MMO will still be going when Fallout 5 launches - and that's absolutely years away. Still, if it wants to keep up goodwill in the playerbase, it will want to put a PlayStation fix out sooner rather than later.
