PlayStation Gamer Spammed With Tekken 8 Emails

5
A PlayStation user has been repeatedly spammed with Tekken 8 emails for two consecutive months, forcing them to unsubscribe from the popular newsletter. They then asked the PlayStation community if any other Tekken 8 players had also encountered a similar experience, but they were largely met with a barrage of jokes at their expense.

While spamming players with emails every single day is certainly a controversial move, Tekken 8 isn't shy to a bit of controversy. Despite being one of Metacritic's highest-rated games of 2024, Tekken 8 was review-bombed just a few months after its release due to Bandai Namco's decision to add an in-game item shop and battle pass to the hit fighting game. Many players called this "greedy" and took issue with the studio's lack of communication prior to the update being released, which resulted in the game's Steam badge slipping to "mostly negative."

Now Tekken 8 has one fan riled up all over again, but for a somewhat less controversial reason. Over on the PlayStation subreddit, Reddit user Menspookie revealed that they have been spammed with Tekken 8 emails from the studio every day for the last two months. The screenshot then shows a snippet of the email, which appears to be urging the player to jump back in and master the basics of a Tekken 8 character. The user explained that they were forced to unsubscribe from the marketing emails due to the constant spam, but were reluctant to do so as they didn't want to miss out on any actual news.

Why god why. Has this been happening to anyone else?

After asking the PlayStation community if anybody else had experienced anything quite like this, many joked that the user simply wasn't ready for the next round of Tekken 8. However, some helpful individuals suggested the user simply needs to change their email preferences on their account so that they do not receive new messages for every single Tekken 8 game update. But it looks like they aren't the only PlayStation user to experience something like this, as Reddittor sz0mbie247_ said that the same thing has happened to them in the past but for Genshin Impact.

While the automatic response for most players would be to unsubscribe, this would mean they'd likely miss out on some big news, such as the arrival of new PlayStation Plus games. But as other users have pointed out, there is the option to select the different types of marketing preferences you subscribe to, which should be one simple way to tackle these pesky emails.
