Monster Hunter Wilds Armor Is No Longer Gender Locked

The Monster Hunter hype train is running at full speed thanks to all the new features being revealed at Gamescom. One of those is a big change to armor sets, flipping a series mainstay on its head.

Every Armor set in Monster Hunter has always been available in male and female variants. The stats are always the same, but the style is always tied to the gender of your Hunter.

This is a thing of the past in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Jhokes on X posted a clip of the reveal, but it's now confirmed that there is no gender-locked armor in Monster Hunter Wilds.

This means you can wear both male and female armor variants regardless of your Hunter choice at the start of the game.

This is massive news. What's the point of slaying monsters if you can't look good while doing it?

Many regard fashion as the true end game for Monster Hunter, and all the fantastic mods available on PC would attest to that. Now, we essentially have double the customization options.

Monster Hunter has traditionally offered varied armor, but some series tropes are slightly restrictive.

Male armor is typically bulky and broad, while female armor is often a more scantily clad affair.

Many players enjoy the latter, but these changes should please everybody. Some armor sets look ridiculous no matter who's wearing them. There will at least be some wiggle room if you want those sweet stats.

In addition to the armor news, Capcom dropped a few more massive gameplay bombshells during their livestream. We've already seen the replacement for Scoutfiles, and it's adorable.

Monster Hunter World-style mounting is back. Traditional Mounting was changed in the latest title, Monster Hunter Rise. The removal fits the game's style, but many will be pleased to see it return.

A new Environmental Hazard has also been teased. Great Thunderbugs can attack monsters with Electricity, although this doesn't affect the new region's Apex Predator.

We don't know if players need double the materials if they want both male and female armor variants. Considering players can spend thousands of hours on Monster Hunter games, what's a few hundred more?

If they had some sick Easter eggs and crazy encounters and side missions like rockstar games I would probably try this out !
