Black Ops 6 players want classic yet toxic feature back

0
Black Ops 6 brings a lot of iconic features back to Call of Duty, from Wildcards and the classic Scorestreak system to round-based Zombies. However, you can’t chat with the enemy after a match, leaving those who like to trash-talk disappointed.

Usually, once a CoD multiplayer match finishes, comms are open on both teams and you’re able to let the enemy know exactly how you feel. This has become a staple feature in Call of Duty multiplayer, allowing players to brag after a big win or play.

However, during the Black Ops 6 beta, players noticed that they weren’t able to hear or speak to enemy players at the end of a match, which led to some questions about why it had been removed.

Popular content creator ‘I AM WILDCAT’ shared his thoughts on the removal of the feature, claiming that the game feels “lifeless and empty” without it, as if it was just “bots” he was playing against. Comments under the post share a common opinion of wanting the feature to return.

It comes as a bit of a surprise since you can still hear enemies after killing them, and voice chat is even enabled between the attacker and victim when the Body Shield mechanic is initiated. It’s unclear why voice chat is disabled after a match ends, but perhaps it has something to do with toxicity.

In recent years, Call of Duty have been clamping down on toxicity in the game through their code of conduct, which warns players against being abusive via voice chat.

However, if that’s the case, it seems odd to bring a mechanic into the game that allows you to speak to the enemy when you’re using them as a body shield, which is a much more toxic situation and has already created some hilarious clips.

Despite its toxicity, post-game voice chat between teams has become a core part of the Call of Duty multiplayer experience, ingrained in the game’s culture and beloved by players for the raw, unscripted interactions it presents.

It’s important to note that the game is currently still in beta, and many things can change from now to its launch version. The devs have not addressed the removal of the feature just yet, but if there’s enough demand, Treyarch may comment on the situation.
