Wii U cut another £50 by UK retailer Asda

How low can Wii U go? UK retailer Asda is looking to find out, as the company dropped the struggling console's price by another £50. This is the second cut the retailer has enacted on the Wii U, dropping its price by £50 in early March. Asda is currently selling the 8GB Basic and 32GB Premium Packs for £149 (around $232) and £199 ($310), respectively.

The unofficial price cut enacted by several UK retailers in early March apparently did little to spur sales. Reports from UK retailers by the end of the month noted that it "resulted in a smaller than desired increase."

The Wii U shipped around 390,000 units worldwide in the past three months. In comparison, Nintendo's last-gen darling, the Wii, outperformed Wii U shipping 460,000 (70,000 units more). There have been no official price cuts announced.

RZA They need to lower it even more to get some sales.


If they lower it too much they won't even make money off of selling it.

Danimals they need to go wayy down before people buy it. if someone looks at the reviews for it then they wont get it. right now the console is looking to be kicked out.

If you look at the reviews on amazon they are pretty positive. It has a 4 star rating just like the xbox. The only thing I see is that it is meant to be a party console to play with friends but for it to fulfill that role the price needs to drop.

The need to at least drop the price to $199, so it can compete with Xbox and PS3 consoles.

slapshot101 Does anyone else remember when the original wii was the big thing and it was tough to find it in any store and it was always sold out? That was crazy...


I remember that. It got mine for christmas and my mum slept outside the shop just to get me one. Remembering that makes me feel so lucky now :)


yeah i remember it dude, when mario cart was very rare to find etc lol
