Gameplay Footage Of Crazy Taxi And Shinobi Reboots Leaks

A reliable insider (well, mostly) has shared early development gameplay footage of Sega's Crazy Taxi and Shinobi reboots, which confirms that the former will be a competitive multiplayer experience.

Although Sega appears to be in a much better place now than it was during the last few console generations thanks to heavy hitters like Persona and Like A Dragon, that hasn't stopped fans from complaining about the same thing. I am, of course, talking about all of the games and franchises from Sega's storied back catalogue that have gone completely unused in recent years.

Sure, Sega is mostly known for Sonic, but it's also home to iconic series like Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Altered Beast, and a whole lot more. It seems that Sega got sick of hearing about how much fans wanted these games to make a comeback, as it finally confirmed last year that it has plans to reboot pretty much all of them.

The Game Awards 2023's Sega project reveal trailer confirmed that many of its most beloved series are coming back over the next few years, including Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Shinobi. We only got to see very brief glimpses of each of the projects as part of that reveal trailer, but a reliable insider has given us all a more detailed look.

Over on Twitter, Ryan from the Bronx (better known as the leaker MIdori but now without pretending to be a Japanese woman) randomly shared development gameplay footage of the Crazy Taxi reboot and the new Shinobi game. The most interesting of these is the Crazy Taxi reboot footage, as it seems to confirm the rumours that it's going to focus on multiplayer.

The brief gameplay clip, which is taken from a development build in 2022, shows players competing to pick up passengers and then race downhill to drop them off at another location. We don't get to see too much more of how the new Crazy Taxi is going to play, but it seems to be more focused on racing this time around.

Crazy Taxi wasn't the only Sega reboot to have its gameplay leaked, as Ryan from the Bronx also shared some new footage from the Shinobi revival. Most of the footage is centred around the game's intro cinematic, but we do get some more footage showing who is likely Joe Musashi running through a forest and taking down any enemies in his path.

Although both of the leaked gameplay clips are very short, they do at least give us a bit more of a glimpse into what Sega has planned for its upcoming reboots. It seems that we might be waiting a while for more official gameplay if Midori's claims that Crazy Taxi is aiming for 2027 are true, so it's worth taking a good look now before Sega ends up taking it down.
