The Crew 2 Smashes Its Three-Year-Old Concurrent Player Record

Ubisoft announced that it would be working on offline modes for both The Crew 2 and Crew Motorfest after facing a fierce backlash against taking the servers for the original game offline.

The move was met with delight from series enthusiasts, and when coupled with a whopping discount, The Crew 2 has now smashed its three-year-old record-high player count on Steam.

Over the past 24 hours, the news of an offline mode and a huge 98% discount, which sees the game available for $1/£0.84, has caused a massive rush of players to The Crew 2.

According to Steam Charts, the game has 22,675 players playing right now, a record high for both the title and the series. This number eclipses the game's previous record, which was set in June 2021, in which a maximum of 12,707 players were in the game at a single time. When the game launched in July 2018, a maximum of 6,019 players were playing the game, making these numbers doubly impressive.

The series record to this point was the 12,707 players set by The Crew 2 in June 2021; however, the original title came close with 12,236 concurrent players in December 2014.

The Crew Motorfest is a relative minnow compared to the two numbered games in the series, with a peak concurrent player record of 1,164. However, the game has still seen somewhat of a resurgence, with its highest player count since its April 2024 release. While the game hasn't seen as big of a discount as The Crew 2, it's still currently 70% off, which has undoubtedly helped usher in a bunch of new players.
