Just Cause 2 developer: Wii U dev kits are 'collecting dust'

4.7
Avalanche Studios founder Chrisofer Sundberg says his studio's Wii U dev kits are "collecting dust", and that Nintendo is too difficult to communicate with.

Speaking to Pressfire.no, Sundberg noted the small Wii U install base, because leveling wider criticisms at Nintendo.
"We actually had some development kits that just collected dust," he said. "It's a bit sad, because we wanted to do something. I think it's a cool platform, but right now it's not just up to us. We want the game to reach as many as possible."

Sundberg also said it is difficult to do business with Nintendo. "Nintendo have from our point of view always been difficult to reach. You never quite know who to contact."

While third-party support of the Wii U may be scant at present, Nintendo's first party software library is tipped to grow substantially post-E3.

Avalanche Studios is rumoured to be working on a third installment to its Just Cause series, as well as an open world Mad Max game.

VEVO Most developers are using the greatest in graphics power and engines to run their games. When they have to literally downgrade their engines at the sake of a copy for the Wii which won't be a big seller anyways, you can CLEARLY see why Nintendo is failing. I know they want to preserve their 'retro' image but if they don't catch up with the demand for power, they'll likely fail and go bankrupt. The Wii U was a cool concept but with little recognition and limited capability, no one will step up to support it.

a company like Nintendo will not go bankrupt, they own so many different rights to games like pokemon etc that still make them huge amounts of royalties aswell as investments in other things. I dont disagree with you about the fact that they need to create a console that is at least on par with what the other big hitters are doing like MS and Sony but at the same time the WII U probably has the same power if not more than the 360 and ps3 but will very soon be out dated by the next gen consoles

What a shame. The Wii u is neat for those cool Mario party games and things that Nintendo is best known for. Sadly because of that mine collects dust just as theirs did :(

Rojo Its a shame that these companies are unable to develop for the Wii U. It has great potential, but the fact that Nintendo made it hard for developers to develop games will really hit them hard in the long run sales. That's why they need to seriously focus on a more serious console like the PS4 or the Next-gen xbox so they can get a bigger and better crowd. STOP WITH THE PORTABLE CONSOLES!

the wii u isn't portable...
