Ready Or Not DLC 2 Delayed, But Feature List Is Out

3.5
Ready Or Not is getting a second DLC, but the launch was delayed due to cascading scheduling issues.

The developers at VOID Interactive made the announcement during a Steam devlog, where they also took the time to disclose more features about the much-anticipated update.

This would be the second DLC released for Ready Or Not after Home Invasion launched to mixed reviews in July this year.

According to VOID, the Home Invasion delay was ultimately responsible for the new DLC being late. The company was originally aiming for a fall release but now moved the window to sometime this winter.

The upcoming DLC will bring new maps and will drop with some nice quality-of-life features that should make the urban operator's ride a little smoother.

The first new mission brings echoes of some of the finest Call of Duty and Rainbow Six missions: you are going to raid an oil rig. There is something deeply romantic about being over stormy waters with a lot of guns and your best buds.

Mission two of the DLC will be in an overgrown tropical resort that looks remarkably similar to the abandoned mall in NieR: Automata.

Last but certainly not least, mission three takes you to a fancy buffet in a deluxe lounge that is probably going to become a mess the second the first breaching charge goes off.

For players afraid of the dark, VOID Interactive is reworking how night vision goggles look to make them closer to the real thing.

The GPNVG, famous for its iconic quad-tube setup, will now have a wider field of vision. The tube outlines also change based on your movements, simulating how the goggles dangle in front of your eyes.

The most noticeable practical effect here is that you can no longer aim down your sights with goggles unless you are using holographic optics that are compatible with NVGs.

The workaround here is to cant the weapon and aim down the barrel's length, or use an IR pointer when available.

The suspects are going to become more dangerous thanks to new loadout options. The bad guys will start using flashlights and swap to secondary weapons at will, so think twice before peeking that corner if they run dry on the primary.

In addition to becoming better with their own weapons, suspects are also learning squad behavior. The implementation showcased on the devlog looks pretty basic but is enough to make encounters hairier.

Suspects can rally together to concentrate firepower on an incoming operator or have one of them provide covering fire to allow their buddy to get to safety.

On the operator site, the game is adding illuminated name tags to the back of the plate carrier, making friendly fire hopefully less frequent for those playing without HUD elements.

Tactical shooters like Ready or Not and Zero Hour are knocking it out of the park so far. Might we get a new police shooter golden age?
