Like it did last time, Fortnite OG will bring the game back to its launch state, starting at Chapter 1, Season 1. To absolutely no surprise, fans are extremely happy to see this coming back, as the temporary Fortnite OG mode proved to be extremely popular, bringing in millions of players at its peak.
As explained in the announcement post, Fortnite OG will let players, "explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons". It's great for anyone feeling nostalgic about how Fortnite Battle Royale played in 2017 or missed it the first time around.
It had long been rumoured that Epic would bring Fortnite OG back for good, and now, we know that this really was the case. This isn't surprising, as the original run of Fortnite OG brought in so many players that it broke records. According to Epic, 44.7 million players logged in on its most successful day, which surpassed the amount of users brought in through its concerts. This made it the biggest day in Fortnite's history.
This announcement comes on the same day as the launch of Overwatch: Classic - Blizzard's own attempt to bring in players both old and new with the promise of nostalgia. We'll have to wait and see if Overwatch 2 fares as well as Fortnite did, as this is similarly introducing a launch-state mode as a temporary feature. We'll also have to wait and see if Blizzard decides to bring it back for good, as some fans are already calling for.
THIS. IS. NOT. A. DRILL.
