EA engineer says 'the Wii U is crap'

Summerwill, who according to this Linkedin profile is a senior software engineer and architect at Electronic Arts, launched his attack on the Wii U via Twitter in response to posts relating to EA's current lack of Wii U development.
"The Wii U is crap," began Summerwill's multi-post outburst. "Less powerful than an XBOX360. Poor online/store. Weird tablet. Nintendo are walking dead at this point."

Summerwill went on to say that, "Nintendo platforms have always been very poor revenue-wise for third parties," claiming, "only Mario and Zelda make money," in reference to the historical trend -particularly on Wii - for first-party Nintendo titles to dominate software sales on its platforms.

Summerwill criticised Nintendo's hardware philosophy with Wii U when compared with its current rivals. "Sony, MS, Apple, Google all following the same playbook... standard, powerful, hardware, with focus on software and services.

"Nintendo are still operating like it's 1990. They should have 'done a Sega' and offered Mario/Zelda as PS4/Durango exclusives," he said, suggesting Nintendo exit the console business as did Sega after its failed Dreamcast console in 2001.

"Instead they make this awful console, and [Wii Street U]. Just stop it! Just make great games!" he pleaded.

Speaking more specifically about EA's present lack of Wii U development, Summerwill said, "Yep, we've got plenty of problems, but Wii U isn't where that family/casual market is. It's on mobile/tablet now.

"It is an utterly intentional decision to focus our resources on markets which actually matter... like mobile, and Gen4," he added, with 'Gen 4' being how some publishers are referring to the next generation of consoles (PS4/next-Xbox).

EA yesterday confirmed that it has "no games in development for the Wii U", delivering a potentially devastating blow to Nintendo's Wii U campaign.

Earlier today, an EA rep confirmed that there will be no FIFA 14 on Wii U because of the "disappointing" sales of FIFA 13 on the console. This comes after the publisher confirmed it will also not be releasing a Wii U version of this year's Madden NFL 25.

It wasn't EA as a whole. It was just a single employee an now he is either fired or demoted. Plus EA has come out in the past two weeks and are saying that they are developing games on the Wii U and they are saying that the Wii U is a good opportunity for game development.

On a side note it's funny how TTG's mods haven't posted that EA already said sorry and will be developing games for Wii U soon.

and what would be the point of exactly rhe same games on every console? just because little kids like COD and GTA doen't mean everyone else does,there are alot more games and most of them are way better.COD egts worse every year,GTA is basically just driving around stealing cars which might be ok for 20 minutes if your a kid who's easily amused but i like games with a bit more depth and playabilty.If i want to play COD i'll play it on another console,problem solved... don't get upset about it :)

Are you kidding me? The GTA series (RDR too) are known for having some of the most immersive gameplays and storytelling out of any multiplatform game on the market. You've got to be some teen/pre-teen kid to not enjoy the experience that is offered by their enormous campaigns. As for COD, I only buy Infinity Ward titles for personal reasons, people can complain all they want about a repackaged game but the simple fact of the matter is that they are fun and fast-paced and are consistently best sellers. No games this generation have been or will be able to dethrone them as kings of the generation.


lol no one plays gta for story just because you do doesn't mean everyone else does every plays it to run around steal cars and shoot people.

070vs It has the same look like the older wii.

But its Nintendo guys the first game console.


Nintendo didn't make the first home console they came a good 20 or so years later[not including their pong consoles]


Sorry no it wasn't 20 years later at all.They made the 1st "Gaming Console" and controller / cart,style of games combination as we know them today,ie what our current and past gaming consoles have all been based on.More or less the "blueprint" if you like.

-LOST- It's a good console for cartoon type games like zelda, mario, etc. Just not very good for the companies that are striving to put out the best graphics. Which is most nowadays.


It has the better graphics than both 360 and PS3,not just "cartoon" graphics.Try doing a little research maybe?
