Ubisoft Comments on Assassin's Creed Animus Hub Leak

0
Ubisoft has recently talked about Assassin’s Creed’s upcoming Animus Hub, clarifying some doubts fans had after a recent leak. With the Animus Hub likely being available next year for the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Assassin’s Creed fans are curious about how it’ll work, and Ubisoft is trying to clarify this amid rumors and leaks.

The Animus Hub was originally announced as Assassin’s Creed Infinity in September 2022. According to the information revealed so far, the platform will be similar to the Call of Duty HQ launcher, serving as a home for future Assassin’s Creed games, such as the upcoming Shadows, Hexe, and others, connecting these titles. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has not revealed many details of the platform until now, which leads to speculation.

Now, Ubisoft has addressed a recent leak, indicating that the Animus Hub will not have paid subscriptions or a Battle Pass and that all rewards available on it will be free, including extra content and missions. Ubisoft’s message comes on the heels of a recent leak, which was divulged earlier this week. According to the leak, the Animus Hub would feature a Battle Pass, acting as a highly monetized service with a heavy focus on cosmetics. The leak also featured some images of the service and was deemed trustworthy until Ubisoft addressed it.

All the rewards available in the Animus Hub will be entirely free.
There are no paid subscriptions or paid battle passes featured in the Animus Hub.
Players will have access to regular content and missions at no extra cost.

The first game to be available on the Animus Hub was recently delayed, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows will only be available in February 2025. According to Ubisoft, the team needed more time to polish the title and improve the overall experience.

Last month, it was rumored that Ubisoft would pursue more aggressive release plans for Assassin’s Creed. According to insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is currently planning to put out one Assassin’s Creed game every six months for the next ten years, a bold plan that would include both new titles such as AC Hexe, as well as remakes such as AC Black Flag. While this quick pace may seem unlikely to keep at first, Ubisoft essentially released over 20 Assassin’s Creed games between 2010 and 2020, so it seems possible to pull it off when including both spin-offs and remasters in the equation.

In any case, while Assassin’s Creed has suffered from some level of fatigue before, it’s still one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. So, time will tell whether the Animus Hub and the increased pace of the releases will work for Ubisoft or not.
