A reputable video game industry leaker has not ruled out the possibility of a PlayStation event taking place soon. Sony's last State of Play, the series of livestreams where developments related to PlayStation games and consoles are announced, aired on September 24.

Rumors regarding a PlayStation event being hosted soon have started to intensify as December 3, the day that marks the brand's 30th anniversary, draws ever closer. In response to all this speculation, journalist Jeff Grubb said that he has not heard about any PlayStation showcase or State of Play for that month. Another industry insider, however, has not completely dismissed the chances of such an affair actually pushing through.

On Twitter, billbil-kun, a self-proclaimed private investigator who contributes to the French outlet Dealabs Magazine, neither confirmed nor denied the existence of a PlayStation event that will take place next month. However, the reputable leaker reported in their latest article that Sony has seemingly teased a December 3, 2024 event in a new ad for its Play Has No Limits campaign. The video, which was uploaded recently to PlayStation's official YouTube channel, featured a shot of a digital train timetable showing the digits 03, 12, and 2,024. Sony has hosted a December State of Play in the past, but that was in 2019, the year the showcase was introduced.

Billbil-kun correctly reported on the Black Friday deals for the PlayStation VR2 days before they were revealed. The industry insider was also spot on with their claim of God of War Ragnarok's PC port being announced in May. Community members over at the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit have labeled billbil-kun a Tier 2 informant, or a source who is considered generally reliable.

PlayStation stuff is being prepared behind the scenes, billbil-kun's said in their Twitter post. Among these covert developments are new black versions of some accessories for the PS5, namely the DualSense Edge wireless controller, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and the Pulse Explore wireless earphones. These new variants should be announced within a month, with the controller, headset, and earphones going for $199.99, $149.99, and $199.99, respectively, when they come out, according to billbil-kun's report.

The Game Awards 2024, which will take place on December 12, is expected to feature plenty of announcements. Kojima Productions' Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, an upcoming exclusive for the latest PlayStation console, was unveiled to the public during 2022's show, alongside Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Hades 2, and many others titles.
