The studio tweeted the announcement, setting December 31, 2024, as the purchase deadline. However, this development will not affect your library, so the games will remain available, even after the deadline. MSG has also slated some December sales and promotions as a last chance before the curtains fall.
The decision to delist is in compliance with agreements after Motorsport Games sold the NASCAR license last year. MSG needed to surrender the project after suffering many setbacks since the tumultuous release of Heat and Ignition.
From game-breaking bugs to unpleasing graphical performance, gamers had multiple reasons to frown at the developers. Despite upgrades post-release, Motorsport Games has been unable to please the NASCAR gaming community.
The $5 million purchase of the license was considered a gamble given the unappealing track record in the stock-racing series. However, a glimpse of NASCAR ’25, the new official game iRacing has been working on, proves the investment may have been worth it.
iRacing is popular for its LIDAR-scanned tracks that have become a big draw for racing simulation enthusiasts. Its partnership with real-world racing organizations and series, including FIA, IMSA, and NASCAR, gives the game a lot of promise.
iRacing is expected to publish NASCAR ’25 in the fall of next year for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
To the NASCAR game community!
