Xbox One will require an internet connection 'once every day'

While there are no sweeping mandatory always-online requirement for Xbox One games, new official Microsoft comments suggest the console will need an internet connection regularly.
When asked by Kotaku how regularly the Xbox One will require an internet connection when playing a single player game, Harrison responded: "I believe it's 24 hours."

When questioned whether the user will need to connect online once every day, Harrison responded: "correct".

Harrison's comments elaborate on information on the official Xbox news site. According to that site, "[Xbox One] does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet.

"We're designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection."

People go on vacations, people have jobs where they might travel for days or weeks or even months. There is life outside xbox, apparently microsoft and a lot of other people don't understand this concept.


I'm not sure what your point is. They didn't say that your xbox would permanently shut down if you don't connect to the internet. They just sayed you much connect to the internet that day, to play that day. If you go on vacation you won't be playing and it will work perfectly fine when you get back, You will just have to connect to the internet the day you get back.

ILOVESOCKS With the amazing hacking team we have. I am sure we will find a bypass whether it be offline all the time with torrented games or somehow it will still work online with some magic chip :) don't worry guys

I can see that but that is just going to cost is all a lot of money, to get these new chips in our consoles. I really don't see the need for an online console. It doesn't help us or make the console better.
