Xbox One will not suport current-gen gaming headsets

According to an IGN source, the new data port is indicative of a new Microsoft strategy to take control of the accessory market.
The new port means that current headsets by leading accessory manufacturers, including Turtle Beach, will not work with Xbox One.

According to the source, the propriety data port means Microsoft can control the production of third party peripherals with licensing and authentication standards that manufacturers will be required to meet.

When questioned on the subject, a Microsoft spokesperson said the company will share fresh details on how third party peripherals will work in the future.

"We are working with 3rd party headset manufacturers to create new headsets that will take full advantage of the Xbox One technology," the rep said.

Xbox One will come bundled with a new iteration of its Kinect technology. The hardware features voice technology which will allow chat both in-game and via Skype.

DJxReWinD Honestly every one is hating on the new Xbox so much and I don't even know why...... They did increase everything about the console including graphics and much much more. I believe that this will be a great gaming console along side many new different features, they are just trying to get a new variety of people to buy their console! As for everyone saying they are just going to switch to ps4 well what do we even know about the console really, just specs and that's pretty much it. Most modern PCs and Laptops DO have USB 3.0 ports. The new Xbox One is going to have all of these stupid restrictions that the older consoles and even the newer PS4 won't have, I don't care if it has a 16-core CPU clocked at 5.0 GHz, cooled on plutonium, and the equivalent to two hundred GTX Titans, if I can't plug my damn $20 headset into it, that's bull.

The graphics on the console are good but most people are moaning at the fact that it is not backwards compatible, so if they wanted to play CoD 4 for example, they would have to switch consoles. And the fact that people have to spend even more money on a headset sucks aswell

Do they know how much money they'll lost from that? People are going to sit with their laptops or PC's instead and just use Skype since it supports it.

Heatwave This has really annoyed me, i can't be asked to buy a new headset just for the Xbox one, i already have triton ax720's and turtle beach x11's.

I am sure they will make adapters for older headsets. Max 5 dollars. Not that big of a deal considering you are already paying 400 bucks for the console.
