A future update to Fortnite could potentially be adding a King Kong boss to the game's upcoming crossover with the iconic movie franchise. Crossovers have become a staple of the massively popular Epic Games battle royale, with the developer bringing a variety of different media and pop culture properties into the beloved shooter. The ongoing Chapter 6 Season 1 has already seen a plethora of new collaborations teased to be coming to the game, ranging from Godzilla and Demon Slayer to Spider-Man and even Hatsune Miku among others. Now, another exciting crossover may have even more content than expected.

With the Godzilla franchise already set to bring one of the most iconic giant monsters to Fortnite, a recent leak hinted that another monster franchise is on its way. A leak from a prominent Fortnite community member late last month suggested that the King Kong franchise will soon be added to Fortnite, with a skin based on the colossal ape. King Kong has seen a major resurgence throughout recent years, appearing in the Godzilla vs. Kong films and several recent video games. Now, King Kong is set to arrive in Fortnite with new in-game implications.

As reported by Dexerto, a recent update from prominent Fortnite dataminer Loolo could be hinting at an in-game boss fight for the rumored King Kong crossover. According to the post, Epic Games added several new tags under "Banana" as a codename, referencing a growl, roar, step, and thump. The tags likely reference different attacks that would be used by a King Kong boss within Fortnite, suggesting players will likely be able to battle the iconic primate for powerful rewards and weapons. A release window was not confirmed for the King Kong crossover.

The addition of a King Kong boss fight to the Fortnite crossover would be far from the first time that collaborations have included special challenges. Fortnite's shortened "Remix" season included boss fights based on several of the rappers featured within its major crossover, with players able to battle Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Spice among others. The "Fortnitemares" Halloween event also included Billy the Puppet from the Saw franchise as an in-game challenge for players to take on.

With a plethora of content said to be on the way for Fortnite, Chapter 6 Season 1 has brought plenty to the table for fans of the game. The first season boasts a heavily Japanese-inspired thematic, including a new samurai boss, anime-inspired cosmetics, and multiple Japanese crossovers coming soon. Fortnite also recently launched its "Winterfest 2024" holiday event, even adding Mariah Carey and the iconic "All I Want for Christmas is You" to the battle royale. Fortnite looks to be sending 2024 off with a bang with loads of new content planned for next year.
