While the Xbox Series X|S console doesn't have a lot of console exclusives to call its own, especially one made by a third-party studio, there's one game this year that not only reviewed well, but also doesn't seem to favor Sony's PS5 console when it comes to releases. I'm, of course, referring to GSC Game World's STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

If you're a PS5 owner expecting to see the game appear on the console, given it's the clear-cut generational leader, you might be waiting a while, as the studio has confirmed they aren't working on a STALKER 2 PS5 port currently.

This tidbit of news was confirmed in an interview by Ievgen Grygorovych, game director of STALKER 2.

When asked whether GSC Game World has plans to port the shooter to other consoles, Grygorovych replied, "We were fully focused on developing (and now supporting) the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions."

Grygorovych was also asked whether there's timed exclusivity with the Xbox version and whether the studio would enhance the game for PS5 Pro. The game developer refused to comment on the exclusivity talk but did state, "We do not comment on leaks, rumors, or speculations. Again, the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 are the only ones we have developed and are supporting," regarding a potential PS5 Pro enhancement of the game.

Thankfully, GSC Game World doesn't even need the PS5 version to turn a profit, as just last week, the studio confirmed they are already in the black for STALKER 2.

If you're on the fence about whether to play the game, our review states, "You can easily sink 100 hours into it without noticing, especially if you have a deep love for previous iterations."

The dev team has been busy pumping out patches to fix the game's technical issues, with the first major update dishing out over 1,800 improvements across the board.

Regarding the game's future, GSC Game World has already outlined its plans for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl in the coming year. Players can expect more patches, a content roadmap and more to be revealed. Just don't expect a PS5 announcement, and you shouldn't be disappointed.
