When Hogwarts Legacy was released, it broke Harry Potter gaming records and raised the bar for single-player games. Along their journey to level 40, players will encounter numerous magical creatures from the Harry Potter franchise, including Goblins, Trolls, Hippogryphs, and more. Once gamers reach level 40, they may have all the spells in the game, but not all the talents. Hogwarts Legacy talent points are awarded for each rank increase beyond level 5, giving players a total of 36 by the time they hit the cap. Many gamers have highlighted the flaws in this talent system and have suggested improvements Avalanche Software can make for future playthroughs.
Reddit user Birtybots recently shared a post detailing their disappointment with Hogwarts Legacy's level cap and how it pertains to the talent system. According to Birtybots and other comments, players want to be able to fill all the talent slots in the game. The game's level cap is 40, while 48 unique talents can be unlocked, leaving a handful that are ignored in favor of others. Beyond that, they state that the Potion talents barely affect the potions that players can craft in their Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement. Some gamers have suggested applying the extra talent points to mini-games like the Merlin Trials or Balloon clusters so that a max-level witch or wizard can unlock the missing talents.
Level cap sucks

Unlike some other RPGs which reward players with a full talent tree upon reaching the level cap, the current Hogwarts Legacy talent system prevents gamers from experimenting with alternative builds. As there's still much of the game to discover at max level, some gamers are left unfulfilled that their talents are locked at this point. Because some talents are perceived as inferior to others, many Hogwarts Legacy gamers feel there's an ideal way to spend talent points. This often leaves the Potion category and other talents ignored in favor of the Dark Arts, Core, and Room of Requirement sections.
As Hogwarts Legacy received its last update in the summer, and Avalanche seems to be working on a sequel, this talent issue may not be resolved. Although it may not be adjusted, this problem could be fixed by giving players another way to unlock talent points or awarding max-level players the missing abilities.
