Report: Publishers to receive cut of Xbox One pre-owned sales
A customer walks into a reseller with a previously purchased game disc. This can only be done at retailers that, according to MCV, have "agreed to Microsoft's [terms and conditions] and more importantly integrated Microsoft's cloud-based Azure pre-owned system into its own." The game disc, having been registered in the system, now wipes the license use from the previous owner's account so that the installed game on their Xbox One can no longer be accessed.
Here's the delicate part: the publisher and Microsoft will now receive a cut from the sale. Previously, a company like GameStop pocketed 100 percent of the used game sale, now ConsoleDeals.co.uk is reporting it could be significantly less if Microsoft has oversight of the market. The pre-owned market would go on, but its glorious margins for retailers would be destroyed. Meanwhile, publishers would finally get what they've always dreamed of: a piece of that pie.

VisionaryMGMTYin I don't see too much of a problem with this, but Some GameStop's will most likely close due to this. I understand people don't care due to how much GameStop can rip you off. I'm just concerned with the people who just work there. Though I also don't see where Microsoft or the publishers have a say so. If that license of that disk is bought, is it not that person's game? If I decide I don't want that game/license, shouldn't I be able to give it away since it is mine? I don't see where the company has the right to get cuts from a disk that is bought multiple times. They personally only sold the game once (in my example.) That was their cut. Once that disk leaves their hands, it no longer should be considered theirs no matter how many hands the disk gets into. Just my opinion.
I mean, they could always sell... Nintendo games..
ya and have 1 person in a week....

-Karma-TheOGIrishxXopticsXxHuman so the publishers get more money for the same game? unfair really...
no actually they get less, if you would spend atleast 5 seconds thinking about that you would see why. One game - one person..with used games its 1 Game - 2-5 people
How would the publisher receive less money? Basically it'd be Sales of original copy plus the percent of the used copy sales. Before there was no used copy percentage. So before calling out on someones ignorance make sure you're right.
cause only 1 person has to pay the retail $60 then everybody else only pays the fee instead of $60
The customer would buy the game used just like before, though used games will most likely be more expensive because the retailer still needs to make a profit as well. The fee isn't relevant to the consumer, only to the publisher, microsoft, and the retailer.

Where'd you get that? and no you can but what happens is that it then revokes it off your account so when you go back home you have to re download the game, luckily you can play the game while it's downloading.

This is bad for used game companies like GameStop and I am sure they will give us even less for our games now.
