Latest Halo 5 Rumors Debunked

Lenovo has squashed recent rumors that a Halo 5: Guardians PC port is on the way. A recent promotion image for the Lenovo Legion Go S implied that Halo 5: Guardians was set to arrive on Steam, but it seems that this was just a mockup design.

Because of the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC a few years back, Halo 5: Guardians now remains the only mainline game in the series not to come to the platform. It's somewhat strange that there's such a glaring gap in the series on PC, especially for gamers who enjoy it but do not own an Xbox One to be able to complete the entire story. Curiously, a PC version of the Forge editor for Halo 5: Guardians was released back in 2016, yet the full experience never arrived. There have been plenty of rumors over the years, but nothing has ever come to fruition.

After images of a mockup for the Lenovo Legion Go S suggested Halo 5: Guardians was coming to Steam, the rumor mill started up once more. However, when asked directly whether this was a leak for the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event, Lenovo's senior community manager Ben Green replied with a simple "No lol." At the time of writing, the image is still live on the Lenovo site, and any real leak would likely have been removed as quickly as possible. In a follow-up response, Green confirmed that he has "sent it over to our design team to take a look at."

Gamers hoping for a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians shouldn't lose all hope. While this Lenovo detail isn't proof it's coming, that doesn't mean it won't at some point. Microsoft's renewed interest in the platform in recent years could see the company finally decide to bring every Halo game together in one place. This is all speculation, though, and there is currently no concrete indication that Halo 5: Guardians is coming to PC any time soon.

The Halo franchise as a whole is in an interesting spot at the moment. Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) continues to update Halo Infinite with new content, but there's already a growing desire for something new among the series' community. When looking at what to expect from Halo in 2025, rumors continue to swirl about the possibility of a Combat Evolved remake, as well as a rumored move to PlayStation for The Master Chief Collection. If true, it would certainly be an interesting change in direction for the franchise.
