Xbox One Controller will last ten years - Microsoft
Accessories and hardware manager for Microsoft, Bob Brown, told Pocket-Lint that the aim was to create a controller that would last ten years - the projected lifespan of the Xbox One.
Brown explains that when testing the Xbox One Controller, "each button gets pressed over and over, between 4-5 times a second," while the thumbsticks are also tested with repeated use.
The test determines not only how the controller can withstand vigorous button mashing, but also whether each button delivers the right result, regardless of how many times it has been pressed.
The controllers are also dropped repeatedly in order to determine shock points, and to ensure the inside is not damaged on collision.
The Xbox One controller has been finalised, however Brown says testing is still ongoing. Currently, the controller can handle over 3 million button presses, which Brown claims is over the target.

I don't believe it one bit. Haha. 10 years is a little long for a controller but who knows. Maybe they're like the Nokias of controllers

Ten years?
All I have to say is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
For starters, they wouldn't want a controller that can last that long. Then people wouldn't buy controllers as much, which would mean less money coming in.

EncarnateYin Very nice. My biggest problem with the 360 controller is that the stick messes up after about a year from sprinting in Call of Duty too much. Bigger question though: Are they going to make wired controllers? The cost of batteries is going to be crazy if not. I hate batteries.
Each controller comes with a set of rechargeable batteries that you can charge with a usb cable I believe (like the ps3 now)
That's legitimate news, huh? If so, that is pretty amazing. I still kind of wish for wired controllers because of the response time, but that would be great, too. As long as I don't need actual batteries, I'm good.

I didn't know which console I was going to get but now I know. I go through xbox controllers and playstation controllers like no other. (not even from raging) I hit the buttons harder then most and it's a bad habit I haven't been able to break.
