DayZ more likely on PS4 than Xbox One

Both Microsoft and Sony have approached Bohemia Interactive about porting DayZ to new hardware, but creator Dean “Rocket” Hall is more in favour of the PlayStation 4 than Xbox One.

“We talked to both of them. But, as I’m sure you’re aware, Sony lets you self-publish and they don’t make you pay for updates,” Hall told Eurogamer.

“Microsoft requires you to have a publisher. They have no digital distribution strategy and they require you to pay $10,000, or whatever it is, for updates.”

Hall said that Bohemia likes Sony, and that he personally liked what he saw on the PlayStation 4.

“I like what I saw on the Xbox in a lot of cases as well,” he added. I’m not shitting on them. I’m kind of hopeful that Microsoft has just forgot to talk about its indie support. Maybe I’m being a bit naive.”

The architecture of both consoles mean Hall doesn’t see many barriers to getting DayZ running on either of them.

“It’s totally achievable. The only barriers are the ones console manufacturers put up in the way of indie devs,” he said.

“That’s the only barrier now. I’d love to see this on Xbox Live. I’d love to see it on PS4.”

A console port is probably inevitable but the DayZ team won’t start on it until the PC standalone release is finished.

Rojo Obviously, PS4 is way better! Xbox One couldn't handle those DayZ graphics any way, it should become an exclusive.

That's not even sound logic... DayZ isn't associated with little kids, who by the way will be on any game you buy.

The x1 has thief and the crew too. Do some research before you say ****. I already play planetside 2 on PC, its fun. But the x1 is getting world of tanks which is fun too. The best exclusive Sony announced (KH3) is coming to X1.


Obviously then KH3 isn't an exclusive. The PS4 has better exclusives than the X1 even though it has less. And what exclusives they don't have, they get exclusive content on.

Don't know why people are acting like DayZ wouldn't be around if it weren't for consoles, people have to remebmer that DayZ is currently only a modification, so if the console market was ruling over PC (Which it never will) then DayZ would probably never exist!


i dont know why people think the PS4 has better exclusives, it has 1 worth a mention and thats inFamous, the other titles at E3 were total shite, as were most of the XB1 exclusives, but we have titanfall, Dead Rising 3 which looked amazing and a few others.

10,000 is crazy to do a title update. Just think MW3 had 23 updates. I can now understand why Treyarch has implemented hot fixes so they wouldn't have to pay that to fix the littlest things.
