They meant that for multiplayer. This is for zombies, but what throws me off though is the fact that the ray gun is announced in the picture. Treyarch always adds a new weapon or two in zombies but never announces it like they did with the Peacekeeper.

Buried seems to be a lot like Shangri-La but I could be wrong, the new ray gun looks awesome but I hope it is not overpowered, also does the show of the ray gun mean the return of PHD flopper?

I don't know why but I feel that the new ray gun will have a chain effect. Like the Sliquifier and Wunderwaffe DG-2.
