Xbox 180: Microsoft to 'completely reverse' its DRM control on Xbox One
A new report from Giant Bomb states that Microsoft will drop its DRM control with Xbox One and the need for the console to log in online every 24 hours.
According to the GB report, the following will occur:
• No more always online requirement
• The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
• All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
• An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
• All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
• No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
• Region locks have been dropped
Discussion of the recent changes can be found within this thread - http://www.thetechgame.com/Forums/t=5363350/microsofts-announcement-about-xbox-one-19th-june-2013.html
"An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games - After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
"Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today - There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
"In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.
"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."
The benefits are obvious - Xbox One will be usable with or without an internet connection, dispersing the fears of a vocal and outraged crowd who staged a backlash against the original online-reliant policy.
The changes also re-open the door to game rental services, the lending of games between friends and the purchase and sale of used games to anyone, anywhere without fear of DRM control.
And a region-free console will mean gamers will be able to import titles from other regions without restriction.

Akon_Fanboy "-Microsoft finally show their true colours at E3
-The public fights back against their **** like they should
-Microsoft realize they are in trouble
-They panic and change the Xbox One
-"Oh h-hey guys t-thanks for showing us the error of our ways"
-People buying right back into their ****
If you support Microsoft after what has come to light in the last few weeks, then I hope you realize that you literally have no respect for yourself as a consumer and are a complete idiot.
I can't believe people are so ready to throw money at a company that, four days ago, was perfectly prepared to **** you in all the ways you could be **** in regards to gaming."
I saw that post on another site, and quite frankly, describes the situation 100%.
Imagine this:
You go to a restaurant (Microsoft) to get a meal (xbox 360). This meal is good, so you come back later to get the next meal (xbox 1), but before you eat it, you realize that it's been poisoned, so you and everyone else complain, then the restaurant gets rid of the poison in their meal (xbox 1)
Just because they got rid of the poison, doesn't mean they weren't trying to poison you in the first place. Why would you buy from them knowing they tried to poison you? Sure, they got rid of it now, but that doesn't change the fact that they were originally trying to poison you.
I agree there trying to pull this off like they're the good guys but it's just for money. To be honest I wish there was like an option to choose DRM when setting up or something because I was actually softening up to it.

voxazi PS4 is still technically better. Slightly better hardware, waaay more exclusives, and STILL cheaper. Everyone who is still jumping on the xbone train deserves a good slap in the face tbh. **** fanboys :fp:
Hmm, you shouldn't be talking about fanboys, after all you are one. Now second, slightly better hardware is not going to going to make a NOTICIBLE difference. Xbox One has much more games which seem really really great meanwhile PS4 cant show off any games half as good as those for Xbox, there are far more features from the Xbox such as 3 OS to choose from, multitasking, such as listening to music or web browsing while playing games and with the newly added and improvised servers we will have more power when it comes to online play. I think you deserve to get slapped on the face. And there is much more better features with Xbox because, why does hardware matter if programmers cant use it to its full support, and I believe MS has done a great job when it comes to packing power through software where as to Sony has failed.

A_Box_Of_Mintsdarkowl1991Lol, are you a PR person for Microsoft or something?Colorsdarkowl1991 Might actually take my preorder of the xbox1 and put it on the PS4 now.
there is something wrong with you
Nope, you might be happy now you don't have connect to the net every 24hrs (seeing how your on here idk why that was a problem) but the xbox1 just lost one of it's best features which was game sharing with 10 friends.
I'm with darkowl on this one, I may be getting it now also the Kinect is amazing I love it for my 360, the lack of using a controller is awesome!

slapshot101 I wonder why they didn't change this earlier. It seems so strange that they were defending all their choices and then out of the blue they changed all the things that people didn't like about the One.
They said a while back, they were listening to the feedback. So they probably finally heard enough of it and wanted to keep their costumers... that's what I think.
