Minecraft PC sales top 11 million

Minecraft sales have topped 11 million copies on PC, Mac and Linux, according to Marcus 'Notch' Persson, the creator of the smash hit.

Sales of the world building game across all platforms have now surpassed 27 million units.

In May, it was announced that Minecraft Pocket Edition had sold over 10 million copies, while Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition hit six million sales in late March.

A retail version of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition will be released in the UK this Friday, June 28, while an Xbox One version of Minecraft was announced earlier this month.

Following Minecraft's "freak" success, Persson said in April that he's feeling the pressure of expectation. His next title is a first-person space game called 0x10c.

This is great I hope to see even better updates come out, I can't wait for the Horse update, that will change so many things in the game.

I hope there is no next gen. But that isn't happening, is it? Lol jk, but I honestly don't like the Xbox One's Kinect crap...

I still remember when minecraft was in alpha, it has sure come along way. The 11 million sales are well deserved

I know right, I never played it on console though. I hope it comes out for PS3/PS4 :)


It is not nearly as good on console. Consoles restrict you too much. PC is just superior in nearly every way.


Yeah, I was really hoping they were going to allow mods, custom texture packs and character skins on the console, but oh well. I have it for the PC as well so it's all good.
