Xbox One Kinect for Windows SDK applications live now, cost $400

4.7
Windows Developers anxious to get their code onto Microsoft's next-gen Kinect can apply for a software development kit before its official public release in 2014. Microsoft is accepting applications now through July 31 at 9AM PT, and early kits cost $400. The program begins in November.

Early kits include an alpha sensor and the final sensor at launch, private support from the Kinect for Windows engineering team, access to the early SDK and any future updates, and private access to all API.

Microsoft will alert successful applicants in August.

Snowfl4k3z Hope they make good games for this.

Apparently there isn't a very good launch line up. I am still hoping for some great games to come out in the future

MoDOT But why for now? How much will it be a year later.

As a developer, you don't want until 'a year later' to start developing games for consumers.

Katsumi Ouch. $400 is pretty high for a single unit . I wonder how many people will apply

You guys have no idea when it comes to SDK's. I believe an early Xbox Durango SDK was on Ebay for $25,000. This is an amazing price for an early Kinect SDK and the final Kinect also. For everyone who says that the Kinect is going no where, you are dead wrong. Microsoft is rumored to be pushing out a new feature for the Kinect that allows it to full project a games scene into your living room which would allow you to say take a drink and have your game character do the same thing at the same time as you. Immersive Reality is the thing of the future and I for one am ready for the future, I have purchased 2 of these SDK packages.

Linear **** hell everyone here has no idea.

You get the Alpha Kinect a year before. On release, you get the release Kinect, you get access to a private Kinect specialist team and the full API for kinect-based development.

$400 is one of the chepeast SDK's of it's type - this is obviously trying to encourage indie Kinect Development.

Well done, Microsoft.
You bring yup some very valid points but the thing is that most people don't completely care about the Kinect in their indie games, they would rather develop it with out the Kinect then with it, there is no future currently in the Kinect indie games, besides most people who are downloading the games don't want the Kinect.

If no indie devs want this, why are Microsoft selling it? Supply and demand.
