GTA V: 'Only negligible difference between 360 and PS3 versions'

4.6
Rockstar has assured fans that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Grand Theft Auto V will be virtually indistinguishable from each other.

In a Q&A published on its own website, Rockstar addressed the issue of whether one game had a performance advantage over the other.

"Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem," Rockstar replied.

"Like all of our games, trust that we're committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, and we are excited for fans on both platforms to experience Grand Theft Auto V this September. We expect any visual differences to be completely negligible."

It seems the only major difference will be that the Xbox 360 version will come on two discs compared to the PlayStation 3 version's single Blu-ray disc. However, since both versions will require a mandatory 8 GB install and the Xbox 360 version only needs to run off one disc after this install, that difference could be negligible too.

Elsewhere in the article, Rockstar also shared some other information relating to the game. Players will be able to swap between the three main characters any time they like while not on a mission, and "because they have their own schedules, you'll never know what they might be doing - you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law - or whatever else these guys do in their free time".

Rockstar also insisted that it is "completely focused" on the current gen versions of the game - though it didn't rule out next-gen editions.

The game will also come with a map, as is GTA tradition, but this time it'll be a double-sided poster map. The blueprint map provided with the Special Edition of the game will also feature additional information and secrets on it.

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17 worldwide on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

ExoticWolfs This will suck for some people, but I am sure you can delete some stuff for 8 gb, I have 250 gb hard drive so I have plenty of space as of now.

The only problem is for people who do not have Xbox 360 hard-drives. They will likely need to go and buy one for this game.

I wonder what Frames Per Second this has.

It doesn't bother me about the installation problem because I have a huge HDD with tons of free space, but I have a friend that has a very small HDD with it nearly being full. I guess he won't be able to play GTA.

Good thing I have a 250GB hard drive. This will be the last game for Current Gen consoles I buy. So sad.

I hope I don't hear people complaining about the installations! You get it with a lot of games, it's because it's so big. That's a sign of an amazing game: Look at LA Noire, such an amazing game and that had 3 discs...

I was wondering how those graphics and that size of a map could be on Xbox 360. I knew it was going to have to be multiple disks with a download similar to Battlefield 3. I don't mind it though. I have the room on my hard drive. I do feel bad for those that don't though. I was there once. Not cool.
