Petition wants Microsoft to bring back Xbox One's DRM
"This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers uncertainty.
We want this back. It can't be all or nothing, there must be a compromise."
This petition follows Microsoft's reversal of their original DRM policies for the Xbox One. Controversially, the Xbox One originally needed to connect to the internet every 24 hours to verify that multiple users weren't accessing the one copy of a game; games that would have been permanently linked to your account, stored on your console or in the cloud, and shareable with up to 10 other people.
Following Sony's announcement that the PS4 wouldn't have always-online or game sharing restrictions at E3, and a public outcry from "uninformed" members of the public, Microsoft reversed these policies. This means that the console essentially operates the same as the Xbox 360, where games are not linked to your account and still require the physical disc to play.
Currently the petition has around 6,000 supporters out of a needed 7,500.

It kills local game stores, requires an internet connection to actually play ( some people don't have the money or time or location for it ) and really is not beneficial.

Innovation.
If the xbone has the old DRM policies back it will be a new experience, while with the updated policies, it's just a $500 better graphic 360. The PS4 is just a $400 PS3, with better graphics. One of the consoles should be different.
Actually bro, they both have an upgraded ram.
"an upgraded ram" - as in a sheep?
You mean they both have upgrade RAM. Which in turn leads to better graphics and the ability to do more at once on a console.
Stop being a pedant.

Im voting to revert back to its original DRM actually. Just hope prices are fair and we get deals like spend 100 in less than 48hrs and get 20 off your next game purchase.
thats retarded, but there will certainly be more specials and cheaper games all round

xSTaTiCBLuEx OMFG how stupid are people? Not having the DRM doesn't mean all the features have to be done away with, the removal of all the additional things is, oh just yet another **** up on microsoft's behalf because they are totally damn silly. The DRM meant your Xbox needed to be connected to the internet to monitor it, that has NOTHING to do with having an online store like Steam that you can purchase games for. They are, or should be totally seperate. A console game store is not linked to the DRM in anyway, and if Microsoft have linked them, then it yet again shows their total stupidty and incompetence.
Perfoming DRM checks allowed users to share games with up to 10 people. - This was removed when the DRM was.
That is why peope want DRM back.
Despite what most people think, the DRM policy is very beneficial. So the Xbox One "silently" checks if your online, it really doesn't affect anyone other than those who don't have internet connection in the first place.

Well, not suprised as the Xbox One did lose alot of its unique features when they reversed the decision.
