Xbox One demand apparently higher than Xbox 360 at launch

Xbox One pre-orders are "trending higher" than that of Xbox 360 during its respective pre-launch period, according to Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb.

Posting via Twitter today, Hryb said, "Just found out XboxOne preorders are trending ahead of Xbox 360 preorders during the same time period + sold out at most U.S. retailers."

Hryb didn't release any specific figures, nor did the firm make any mention of Xbox One's pre-order performance in today's fiscal Q4 and year-end finical report.

This does, however, support the prior claim of Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who said Christmas pre-order numbers for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One are twice what they were for the launch of PS3 and Xbox 360.

UK retailers reported strong Xbox One pre-orders following the announcement of Microsoft's console in May, with Blockbuster saying Xbox One pre-orders broke records for the firm.

Meanwhile online retail giant Amazon reported in June that Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders were 'neck and neck', and that Xbox One pre-orders were 20 per cent higher than they were for Xbox 360 ahead of its release in 2005.

Microsoft today reported significant growth for its Entertainment and Devices Division which encompasses its Xbox business, and claimed Xbox Live growth of nearly 20 per cent.

Since they removed the DRM pre-orders have skyrocketed. If this continues we may see the Xbox One be just as if not more popular than the Xbox 360


The Xbox one should be more popular if not then they have done something wrong... The Xbox community has grown enormously so that means the Xbox one should have way more pre orders than the 360

The amount of gamers in the world would have at-least doubled by now from when the Xbox 360 was released. Hopefully this hype continues for the next generation consoles

Do you even realize how many more software features the Xbox One has over the Playstation, oh wait, that's a stupid question, because if you had known, you wouldn't have posted this idiotic post. It also comes with the Kinect 2 sensor, which if you didn't watch E3, is state of the art technology and will be absolutely amazing.

All you did was listen to people that complain about the price, so now you think it is over priced as well.

If everyone would just pay attention then the Xbox One would have 1,000,000 more pre-orders then the crappy Gaystation.

And no i am not an Xbox fanboy, i actually game on PC, but between these two consoles, the Xbox definitely is better.

Also, I am NOT an xbox fanboy, but it is indeed, alot better then the playstation.

By the way, i will be getting an Xbox One, and i will be playing on both. SMD have fun getting hacked.


the price is pretty high for the xbox one however there is a lot more to it than the PS4
