Xbox One could outship PS4 3-to-1 this year

Robert W. Baird and company analyst Colin Sebastian has stated in his latest investor’s note that Xbox One seems to be riding the momentum train at retail.

Along with topics covering upcoming financial releases such as EA, Take-Two and Activision, Sebastian noted that gutting the DRM policy on the new Microsoft console has done wonders for the upcoming system.

“Despite losing the headline battle at E3, Microsoft’s Xbox One appears to be regaining some momentum, in part due to the used and online policy tweaks,” he wrote. “Importantly, our supply chain checks suggest Microsoft may have the benefit of a 2-3x unit advantage at launch compared to Sony’s PS4.”

The analyst expects both PS4 and Xbox One to have launch shortages and he also noted that Microsoft is “working with channel partners to lessen the gap,” between the consoles’ pricing – there’s a $100 difference between it and PS4.

Sebastian also said he felt Wii U needed a price cut in order to be competitive and “the fate of the platform” rests on Nintendo’s holiday software lineup.

I doubt the xbox is going to lead sales let alone a 3 to 1 ratio.

I think we'll see a few more WiiU sales over the holidays if they cut the price, or people might even buy more things like Ouya's and Gamesticks.

"theres a $100 difference between it and PS4", in Australia it only $50 but we are paying more over all. $100 more for the xbox1 and $150 more for the PS4.

If you read the article then you would see that Xbox will have 3 to 1 shipped at launch. That does not mean sold to a customer. They will be in the store. If you understood what shipped meant then you would know that. This article is telling us that more One's have been produced then PS4's. Well there is my explanation. We will find out one sells more after they are released.


Then why would the companies be shipping so many if they weren't going to be sold? It's like if you were selling something and nobody bought it and you kept ordering more.


The companies are not shipping them. MS is shipping them. I don't think you know what shipping means. Anyway MS is preparing for the amount by shipping the consoles to Gamestop and other stores. So there will be a 3:1 ratio of xbox's to PS at the stores. Most likely they will all be sold but they could be like the Wii U and over produce. Many stores had to send back their Wii U's since they were not selling them. I doubt this will happen with the One but you never know. So for the people who are to stupid to realize shipping a console to a store does not mean it has been sold yet. That is why I said "necessarily". Most likely they will outsell but we can't know for sure until after they are released.

It all comes down to the individuals opinion when it comes to this. For example, In my opinion i think that the PS4 is better than the Xbox One despite knowing and considering the upsides and the downsides of each console. The Xbox One is still a great console never the less

This is actually a little surprising to me seeming how bad the Xbox One was doing initially due to the DRM and all. Once they removed it sales have really skyrocketed. Good job to Microsoft

That's not an opinion whatsoever, you can't have an opinion that voids the possibility of something happening, when it's entirely unpredictable, all fanboys are stupid, it's that simple. If I buy a next generation console I know that it will be the Xbox One, because I have a preference towards the way that the online system works, but I know for a fact that the PlayStation 4 is still superior.


"Xbox will always be better than PlayStation" is an opinion. You saying PlayStation 4 is superior is also an opinion. And, in my opinion, Xbox One, and Xbox in general, will always be more superior to PlayStation 4, and PlayStation in general.
