Microsoft: 'no plans to release Xbox One without Kinect'

Microsoft has moved to shoot down rumours that it's planning to launch an Xbox One without Kinect.

Yesterday, Inside Gaming Daily claimed the company would release an Xbox One sans the 3D camera next summer.

Citing an anonymous source supposedly familiar with the matter, it said: "This contradicts Microsoft's repeated implication that the Xbox One won't function without a Kinect attached, but it's sounding more and more like that's a bit of PR smoke just to get the Kinect in people's homes,"

But in a statement sent to Kotaku, a Microsoft spokesperson said: "We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One."

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November.

The platform holder revealed its next-gen Kinect sensor at E3, when it said: "Its unparalleled vision, motion and voice technology let you reach into games and entertainment like never before by dramatically expanding its field of view and fidelity. It works in nearly any lighting condition, recognizes precise motion control from a slight wrist rotation, and distinguishes your voice even in a noisy room using advanced noise isolation."

XxSerious_SamxX Why would they release it without kinect. If they did the console will be cheaper and all microsoft think about is money. If they make it so you need kinect then people will have to buy it meaning more money for Microsoft


Oh sorry.. give me a moment..my head hurts. Okay first if you had a multi-billion dollar company you to would be worried about profits second don't use the Kinect if you don't want to. It is rather unlikely the Kinect will be needed for all features I feel the Kinect will improve the overall experience in general I find it rather enjoying to be able to voice command my Xbox as I am fat and lazy and don't like to do things manually. In the words of Jackie Chan's uncle.. One more thing.. every one knows that cheaper is better in business that's why used car salesmen exist that's why walmart has clearance, that's why gamestop and steam have summersales. just because they are making you pay a hundred more dollars for the kinect doesn't mean they are in any way trying to deprive you of your mother's cold hard earned cash it's your choice if you buy it or not. If you are looking for a cheaper solution go to the ps4 I hear that it's just as good as the xbox one with a different game set. This concludes my weekly rant.

Are we not paying 100+ dollars on it you dumbfuk. We should decide whether to have it or not.You use the Kinect?


I was going to go to bed but then I seen some one cursing at me in a language I didn't know I assume it's murican' in nature. To be honest don't be so hostile towards me If you don't want the kinect don't buy it. If you already planned on buying it in the first place then why do you care that they aren't releasing a non kinect version apparently you already accounted for the fact since you are already planning on buying it. I mean at the very least you are correct you are paying "100$" for it I guess you can choose to use it or not I mean go ahead attempt to smash it when you get it how ever I'm pretty sure it's required to have it connected to your xbox.

People honestly should have known it was false since the start. Why would they have forced it then made it optional? Considering the XBone NEEDS it to operate, why would they sell it without it?

This is some marketting BS. Most actual gamers used the kinect like the first month and then never touched it again. I won't use and neither will most xbox gamers. They jack up the price for this Sh1t. Thats what it is... Sh1t. I def wont get it.
