Microsoft: 'no plans to release Xbox One without Kinect'

Microsoft has moved to shoot down rumours that it's planning to launch an Xbox One without Kinect.

Yesterday, Inside Gaming Daily claimed the company would release an Xbox One sans the 3D camera next summer.

Citing an anonymous source supposedly familiar with the matter, it said: "This contradicts Microsoft's repeated implication that the Xbox One won't function without a Kinect attached, but it's sounding more and more like that's a bit of PR smoke just to get the Kinect in people's homes,"

But in a statement sent to Kotaku, a Microsoft spokesperson said: "We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One."

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November.

The platform holder revealed its next-gen Kinect sensor at E3, when it said: "Its unparalleled vision, motion and voice technology let you reach into games and entertainment like never before by dramatically expanding its field of view and fidelity. It works in nearly any lighting condition, recognizes precise motion control from a slight wrist rotation, and distinguishes your voice even in a noisy room using advanced noise isolation."

Consumers just need to understand that the Kinect is an integral part of the Xbox One experience. Seeming that Microsoft is planning to bundle them with every console that is released they must have at least a margin of confidence in the product


Yes but iMac ipad and iPhone are designed to work together to everyone buys everything . Should be optional

I don't think that the included Kinect is a reason to completely opt out of buying a console. I'm simply hoping that the Xbox One Kinect will bring vast improvements over the Xbox 360 Kinect

NinjaWizard I don't find the kinect being that bad. People are making such a big deal about it.


Neither do I. I watched a video about some of the features it has and it was pretty impressive.

You can just walk into the room and say "Xbox On" and it will turn on.

Kinect is doing a lot more than just "crappy voice commands." But apparently you haven't done much research. Kinect is able to detect your face to see if you are enjoying the game or not. If you aren't it will make the game more exciting or "bump it up."

It's also able to detect your facial features and how you look so you can make your in game character look like you.
A.K.A gimmicks. Like i've told countless people i've done full research. I can guarantee I know more about this new Kinect than you do, the majority thinks Kinect is dumb and they are right. Way to say it's not just about crappy voice commands when your last quote was about being able to say "Xbox On" lol all of those "neat features" and you chose that one! Also no the Kinect won't just bump the game up if i'm not happy, do you know how dumb that sounds?
