Microsoft: 'no plans to release Xbox One without Kinect'

Microsoft has moved to shoot down rumours that it's planning to launch an Xbox One without Kinect.

Yesterday, Inside Gaming Daily claimed the company would release an Xbox One sans the 3D camera next summer.

Citing an anonymous source supposedly familiar with the matter, it said: "This contradicts Microsoft's repeated implication that the Xbox One won't function without a Kinect attached, but it's sounding more and more like that's a bit of PR smoke just to get the Kinect in people's homes,"

But in a statement sent to Kotaku, a Microsoft spokesperson said: "We have no plans to introduce an Xbox One without Kinect. We believe in Kinect and the value it brings to both games and entertainment, and believe $499 is a great value for what consumers receive with their Xbox One."

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November.

The platform holder revealed its next-gen Kinect sensor at E3, when it said: "Its unparalleled vision, motion and voice technology let you reach into games and entertainment like never before by dramatically expanding its field of view and fidelity. It works in nearly any lighting condition, recognizes precise motion control from a slight wrist rotation, and distinguishes your voice even in a noisy room using advanced noise isolation."

Jagermeister Pretty much sums up the age of the TTG community. By reading the comments I guess the ones hating are 10-15 years old. When you guys have a job you'll realize that if you save your money from when they announced the console in May that you'll have enough to buy it without complaining. 5 months of saving is plenty of time.

im 21 and buy my own consoles and think its dum to include something that will never be used i dont want to pay a extra 100 bucks to jump around like a fool for a month then never use it again so will get ps4.

There is a difference from not affording and being smart

In other words you can't afford it

Wish I think that the Kinect has a lot of beneficial features, however that it should be optional. I know plenty of people who have a Kinect with their Xbox 360 and have used it maybe once or twice.


I agree with you there, i have an xbox 360 but never bought the kinect, i think it should be optional on the xbox one.

It's really good as a novelty item, but beyond that it's not much.

m16 is right the kinect isnt for hardcore gamers it for kids and parents who dont play hardcore games. cause real gamers will never use it i know you can say xbox go home but i can do that threw the controller i think voice controls are for the lazy


Correct Kinect 1.0 sucked but that's because publishers didn't do anything this it. It could of been great and now 2.0 in a must you don't even have to use the features just let the publishers do what they can with it. I have it paid off and it took me two paychecks get a job kid

They are targeting EVERY group of gamer and person alike, and it's working. Microsoft has taken a large percentage of Wii gamers when the Kinect.
