Development on retail Xbox One units 'a wonderful idea', says Persson
Speaking with Edge, Persson commented, "I think it's a wonderful idea to have the actual box be the dev kits."
He went on, "This makes it easier for both the developer and for Microsoft, and presumably they could make it a lot cheaper since they'd only sell unlock codes.
"I realize there are other factors at play here, though, like a perceived need to make sure only 'legitimate' developers get access to it, so a monetary barrier might still be in place," noted Persson.
In yet another surprising revision of Xbox One policy, Microsoft announced Wednesday that it will not only allow indie developers to self-publish on Xbox One, but that every Xbox One console can be used for development (although not at launch).
Indie developers have expressed mixed reactions to the news, some optimistic of at least the opportunity to release their creations on the new platform, others cautious of Microsoft's willingness to offer indie titles sufficient exposure on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

varKatsumixMatchTricksxFTW I'm kinda confused on this post, do they mean they can edit the xbox one from the console itself?
"that it will not only allow indie developers to self-publish on Xbox One, but that every Xbox One console can be used for development "
It's pretty much stating that the Xbox One console can be used as a development kit for games in itself.
And that you do not need a dev kit.
Pretty much, It will likely save developers a fair lot of money. It will be more beneficial for indie developers than big companies though

ExoticWolfsBeacon 429.99 is not a good price for a console.
Well it isn't a good price, but it also isn't a horrible price. I think they should go down a bit, but I don't see that happening anytime soon, also we get a kinect and I am sure it will be good.
I agree. It isn't a surprising price to me.

Gossip Xbox wins over Sony again with another great thing.
While the PS4 has a large variety of benefits over the Xbox One this works both ways. It's great to see that we will see more development with the Xbox One

I don't think this is huge by any means but I guess it's something.
