Report: Xbox One can be powered for 10 years; software is almost done
Eurogamer's Digital Foundry team claims, via unnamed sources, that the Xbox One case was designed to be large in part because they wanted better heat dissipation. The story claims that the testing that has done in house indicates the console can not only run for a decade with power but in standby mode the console is almost silent.
By the way, the current estimate of the Xbox One's dimensions, based on using the size of its known components, are 34x26x8cm, (13.3x10.2x3.1 inches) according to the article.
The same report also claims that the software inside the console is getting close to completion. Microsoft hopes to cut down on load times for Xbox One games, which has been a sore point of Xbox 360 console owners. The Xbox One has been made to keep games in a suspended memory state while the console is in standby mode, which should allow for owners to start playing games quickly when the console goes into its full power mode.
Finally, the story claims that Microsoft will use its upcoming appearance at the Gamescom convention in Germany to show that the Xbox One is capable of starting up instantly from standby mode. Microsoft will hold a press conference on August 20th, the day before the convention opens.

Are people aware that purchasing an 8-core CPU (Which the Xbox One has) can run you about 800 pounds alone? Stop complaining about the price!

General_RaamAwesomeSauce69 False, completely false. Unless they have proved this already by keeping it on for 10 years (which obviously they haven't done)
If they have stated they have done it, also in a form of advertisement. They aren't lying. They would get hit with legal issues if they were.
It's like the 10 million button presses (or whatever it was) life span for the controller, they had machines do it to test it. I know they can't physically test a decade of power on but when they look at each component and add it up that's the number they get. Each component has a life span, 10 years is probably the lowest figure, I'd guess the heatsink/gpu is the culprit....again.

Are you going to constantly run the xbox one for 10 years straight?, No I don't think so.

Da_BombSgTMadkid96HomunculousWink Lol I don't believe this one bit.
It's probably true considering some lightbulbs can last 70 years lit the entire time
I have a day one 360 that I use and play on at least a couple hours a day and its lasted (just had to add some thermal paste to the cpu and video card after a while) so I believe with the new technology and Microsoft learning from previous mistakes it could very well last that long
Conspiracy: Maybe thry madebthose mistakes on purpose? They sold alot of people a second or third xbox 360 because of the issues. It took them nearly 4 years to fix a simple problem.
Well even if they did do that when they created the slim didn't that fix a lot of problems? So if they use some of their methods from that while comimg up with slightly more i think we should be good (unless some other huge problem starts to appear in xbox ones)I think that they should have tried to fix the issues a lot sooner though rather than like you said 4 years to fix a simple problem.

JigeeJigeeBac Xbox One is great and all but the price is ridiculous.
Not really, the price is more than reasonable, and allow me to give you the facts. The original xbox 360 in 2005 with a 20 GB hard drive released for $299. Keep in mind this console is x10 less powerful than the one, does not have integrated internet connectivity (which the xbox one has on of the more powerful wi-fi chips available.) and was prone to hardware failure. For $100 dollars more you can get the xbox one, x10 more powerful, far more reliable, comes standard with 500 GB of memory, far superior hardware/software, virtually unlimited storage via the cloud service, and little to no loading time whatsoever. Saying the Xbox one's price is "ridiculous." Is absurd, do some research; get educated.
$399*
Not too mention it's now currently 8 years later after the initial launch of the 360. Technology has advanced. You're comparing consoles that almost have a decade gap between them. That's like comparing the 360 to the original playstation or an N64.
