Nintendo takes console hack site to court

Nintendo has filed suit against the owner of hackyourconsole.com, a site which probably doesn’t need much explanation.

GameInformer reports Nintendo itself announced the suit, which was filed in Florida.

The site allegedly modifies Wii hardware to enable use with pirated software; sells DS devices like the famous R4 for the creation and use of unauthorised software; and vends unauthorised copes of games.

It’s also said to be introducing a device enabling pirated software on the 3DS.

Nintendo is one of the more active platform holders when it comes to lawsuits and has been particularly firm on the topic of piracy. It regularly advocates for stricter legislation against piracy. The DS is one of the most frequently exploited devices in the world in terms of copied software.

in my opinion it shouldnt be long
They are the pioneers of mobile gaming with the Gameboy and active gaming with the Wii. Like every company they have their ups and their downs and they might be in a slump but it only takes one idea to change the course of a company.

Nintendo kickstarted gaming, they're like part of the founding fathers of the gaming industry. They can't quit.


Nintendo has a very loyal fanbase that they have maintained for many years, they also have the 3DS which is doing pretty well in the market at the moment. I see no reason for them to quit.

Dr-Ponyfile More than likeley a PR stunt in my opinion as they know their console is failing and trying to get everybody to notice that they take piracy very dim in a bid to get people to buy their consoles or to show devlopers they take a very dim view on people pirating in a bid to get them to devlop games for their console thats my two cents.


Yes their console is failing, they should just give up now.

In my opinion, I feel it's more of a thing to get some quick money. Just what I think the true reason behind Nintendo suing the website.

But still, like Microsoft takings JTAGs to court..
All Wii want, is money, money and money..


Not exactly it is their right to take anyone modifying their hardware and or software to court whether it's for money or not it stops a hacker.
