Nintendo takes console hack site to court

Nintendo has filed suit against the owner of hackyourconsole.com, a site which probably doesn’t need much explanation.

GameInformer reports Nintendo itself announced the suit, which was filed in Florida.

The site allegedly modifies Wii hardware to enable use with pirated software; sells DS devices like the famous R4 for the creation and use of unauthorised software; and vends unauthorised copes of games.

It’s also said to be introducing a device enabling pirated software on the 3DS.

Nintendo is one of the more active platform holders when it comes to lawsuits and has been particularly firm on the topic of piracy. It regularly advocates for stricter legislation against piracy. The DS is one of the most frequently exploited devices in the world in terms of copied software.

Nintendo has just been having a rough year all around. But I don't know if they will win this lawsuit, it makes more sense than their previous lawsuits but Nintendo seems to be on the unlucky side right now.

I don't think Nintendo has ever been successful in suing. They lost a claim about a domain for the Wii U, they lost a lawsuit that had something to do with the 3DS(Don't remember what the lawsuit was exactly for) and then now there is this lawsuit going on.


I don't think that it is about the money, Nintendo just wants to make it clear that they aren't going to let people make money off of unlicensed hacks/pirates.

To me, it seems like they're suing for more money. Now don't get me wrong I know people getting free games and stuff causes Nintendo to lose money but I still feel the whole reason behind this is to get money quick and fast if they win.

ik this site is used for a lot of mods and hacks and whatever but are you fu**ing serious?? why would they not want to sue them. ppl are just taking away from THEIR money. would you like it if i just took away money from your paycheck?
