No...it's not about marketing. It's two different types of players, casual and hard core, most people don't have the patience or skill to play a 20-30 minute game, those that do play BF.
Yes it's all about MARKETING. However, you can get in a few games in COD within 30 mins but in BF you will be stuck in one.

Most Battlefield 3 games I play last around 45 minutes + then again I do play on maximum tickets when I play. I like that more than games that end in like 10 minutes or so.
