Sony: PS4 losses will be nothing like those of the PS3

Sony will not generate as large of a loss with PlayStation 4 as it did when it launched PlayStation 3, according to SCE CEO Andrew House.

Speaking in an investors meeting last week, and reported by Bloomberg, House told investors the pricing of PS4 will not cause as large of a loss as PS3 did at launch – the latter of which caused a $3 billion loss.

“We will not generate anything like the losses we did for the PlayStation 3,” House said, as investment in the system is “much, much smaller,” this time out, what with its PC-like architecture.

Still, Sony expects to report a loss in its game division next financial period due to currency exchange rate shifts.

Such looses will be offset in part by sales of PS4, but the firm no longer expects to break-even for the year, but expects earnings to “deteriorate significantly.”

Boar Well I don't expect the same losses, there is a lot more Playstation players now than when there was back with the PS2.


There are also a lot more Xbox players than there was back when the PS2 and Original Xbox where around. Hopefully they will not make a huge loss with the PS4

It really depends what you are looking for in a console, make sure to research both of them before actually making a decision

PS3 may of been hacked a couple of time but XBOX live is going down more than Tulisa lately..

I don't think they will be hacked.. They have pretty obviously improved their security since the 2011 incident.


now the console is more like a computer, bigger security risks are involved in that

Man, that's completely unfair. You can't judge Sony by their past. Everybody makes mistakes, the only thing what matters is whether or not you learn from them.

They might do, but its unlikely to happen again.
